Chris Bradford is an author, professional songwriter and black belt martial artist.
As an author, Chris's three book children's series Young Samurai was acquired at auction by Puffin in 2007. He has also written the critically acclaimed Heart & Soul: Revealing The Craft Of Songwriting (Sanctuary, 2005); the illustrated series of music industry books for teenagers, Record Deals OutLoud, Music Publishing OutLoud and Artist Management OutLoud (Music Sales, 2006); and most recently Crash Course Songwriting (SMT Publishing, 2007). He has also been International Sales & Marketing Manager for a publishing company.
As a songwriter, Chris has worked with many successful songwriters and artists including Jiant Productions (Hear’say); Dave Calhoqoun (Ian Brown 'F.E.A.R.'); Ivor Novello winner Iain Archer (Snow Patrol); and the legendary Graham Gouldman (10cc). As an artist himself, Chris has performed for HRH Queen Elizabeth II, at the Notting Hill Carnival and supported James Blunt in concert. He now teaches songwriting and composition at The Academy Of Contemporary Music, Guildford, and in autumn 2007 will be featuring as a songwriting guru in Channel 4’s forthcoming reality series School Of Performing Arts.
As a martial artist, Chris joined a Judo club at the age of 8 years old and has over 20 years experience in martial arts in various styles including Shotokan Karate, Muay Thai and Taijutsu in which he is a black belt. Chris now trains in Aikido at the Mid-Sussex Martial Arts School, presided over by The Prince Higashi Fushimi Jigo of Japan.
In his spare time, Chris has taught English to Japanese students at the Teikyo School and is a keen world traveller. He has explored Europe, South Africa, North, South & Central America and Australasia; and has lived in places diverse as Zimbabwe, Australia and Nicaragua.
