Henry Hemming | Henry Hemming was born in 1979. He went to school in and around London before going to Newcastle University where he read History. In 2002 he graduated with a 1st and soon after began a year-long journey through the Middle East making art, putting on exhibitions and writing not very good short stories. In 2004 the visual account of this journey – Off Screen: four young artists in the Middle East – was published by Booth-Clibborn Editions. Henry’s written account of the journey - Misadventure in the Middle East – was published by Nicholas Brealey Publishing in 2007. His art has been exhibited in London, New York, Tehran, Oslo, Amsterdam, Muscat, Amman & Oxford. He has written articles for Skin, Islamica, Resurgence, The British Council and Musicalbear. Henry is currently writing Out in the Midday Sun: In Search of the English Eccentric, to be published by John Murray who acquired UK and Commonweaqlth rights in a two-book deal.
