John O'Donoghue

John O'Donoghue - Author and poet. John O’Donoghue was born in North London in the late 1950s. He completed his BA in English and American Literature at UEA as a mature student, and now lectures in Creative Writing at the University of Hertfordshire, the Open University and the University of Westminster.

 

He was Chair of Survivors’ Poetry from 2000–2005, an Arts Council funded charity that promotes the writing of survivors of mental illness. He has had two collections of his own poetry published, Letter to Lord Rochester and The Beach Generation, both by Waterloo Press.

 

John’s essays, articles, fiction and poems have appeared in The Observer, The TES, PN Review, London Magazine, Acumen, Ambit, and Aesthetica.

 

John now lives in Brighton with his wife and four children.

His memoir Sectioned was sold at auction to John Murray in 2007.
